"Until recently, I haven’t wanted to spend time alone in the house at night... but now it’s much better."

The Householder

Inter Generations logo

This scheme is suitable for an older person aged 55+, living in Worcester City and located on or near to a bus or cycle route close to the University of Worcester. You must have a spare room available and be willing to welcome a homeshare into your house.

The scheme is particularly targeted at people living on their own to provide them with companionship, as well as peace of mind and a helping hand.

In exchange for accommodation, students will help out with tasks such as cooking, gardening, cleaning and shopping.

Essential checks and processes

The system is fully checked including obtaining a DBS check for the student, as well as written references for both parties. Interviews and ‘getting to know you’ assessments are obtained to ensure we are able to make the best matches possible based on compatibility.

We also ensure that we involve the householder's family all the way through the process for peace of mind.

The scheme is based on existing projects developed in the UK and many European countries which have been running for over ten years.
