Clearing the way for the fun and games
Since leaving school, David had been unemployed for 4 years. His only real work experience was from a series of voluntary placements. David’s work coach at Kidderminster Job Centre referred David to Vestia Training as an opportunity to enhance his chances of finding suitable employment.
David attended and completed a three week Level 1 City and Guilds Employability course with Vestia Training. Employability Tutor, Darren Robinson said: “At the start of the programme, David lacked self-esteem and was not confident interacting in a group environment. I saw a massive improvement in David’s confidence in general, mainly in talking to others and making decisions for himself. He progressed into being an integral learner on the course and his peers would approach him for help when doing any IT work.”
With the assistance from his tutor, David applied for a cleaning vacancy with Smyth’s Toys and following an interview was successful in securing a part-time position.
David said: “Attending the course allowed me to believe in myself and I discovered that I am a creative person. It also helped me build team working skills. I would definitely recommend the programme to others as the course helps those who struggle to find and secure employment. It also showed me how to edit my CV effectively and I now feel confident to update my CV on my own in the future.”
